Yes. Every pilot at Angel City Aerials holds a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and is fully vetted for commercial UAV operations. We carry comprehensive aviation liability insurance (up to $10 million depending on project requirements) and can provide proof of insurance upon request for film studios, property managers, and contractors nationwide. We are also TWIC certified through the Transportation Security Administration.
Yes. Los Angeles contains complex controlled airspace surrounding LAX, Hollywood Burbank (BUR), Van Nuys (VNY), and Long Beach (LGB). We manage all regulatory compliance, utilizing LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability) and direct FAA airspace waivers to obtain legal flight approvals for restricted zones across LA and all major US metro areas. We also carried out the first commercial drone shoot at LAX airport.
While our primary hub is based in Los Angeles, California, we operate nationwide across all 50 states. We frequently deploy flight teams for national commercial brands, multi-location real estate portfolios, broadcast TV productions, and more. The cost of professional drone services varies based on the project location, airspace, flight complexity, crew and equipment needs, time on site, desired deliverables, and level of post-production. A straightforward aerial photography session will generally require a different scope than a permitted film shoot, recurring construction documentation, or a complex industrial inspection. For an accurate estimate, send us the project address, preferred date, intended use, requested footage or data, and any known site restrictions. We will review the details and provide a customized project evaluation.
We’re happy to offer competitive daily/half-day production rates starting at $750 depending on project scope, as well as flat-rate packages.
For standard real estate and commercial shoots in Greater Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, Inland Empire, and San Francisco, we can typically deploy within 24 to 48 hours. For nationwide projects or complex airspace requireing manual FAA waivers or specialized payload integrations, we recommend booking 5 or more business days in advance to allow for complete site safety planning and airspace clearance.
Flight safety and visual quality are our highest priorities. If high winds, heavy rain, or marine layer fog in coastal areas make flying unsafe or compromise image quality, we’ll work with you to reschedule at no additional cost. We’ll also monitor airspace conditions prior to every flight.
Yes. Angel City Aerials holds an FAA waiver authorizing certain qualifying operations over people and moving vehicles. Every proposed operation is reviewed individually because authorization depends on location, flight plan, and specific conditions of the project. We are equipped and authorized to conduct night operations using required high-intensity anti-collision lighting.
Commercial film productions typically require a filming permit through FilmLA and supporting drone documentation, while projects in controlled airspace may require separate FAA authorization. Angel City Aerials reviews these considerations during preflight planning and helps clients understand what may be required for their location. Contacting us early gives the team more time to evaluate airspace, permitting needs, site access, and any operational restrictions that could affect the shoot.
